🚀 Exploring the Future of IP Rights with AI

As an IP Attorney at IP CYPRUS, I’m always keen to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in IP. Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in two seminars—one hosted by the EUIPO and another by the EPO—each shedding light on the evolving landscape of innovation and intellectual property.

During the EUIPO seminar, titled “30 Years of Incentivizing Innovation” on 19 September, Carlos Luna Garcia from the Digital Innovation Department delivered a presentation called “What is left? Will AI take over?” Carlos covered the evolution of AI, from machine learning and neural networks to deep learning. He also looked ahead to exciting AI advancements like sentiment analysis, emotional AI, and quantum computing. One key takeaway was how generative AI can now produce entirely new data, expanding the scope of possibilities in ways that challenge what we thought was possible. His insights into how AI could reshape the future of IP were timely and thought-provoking.

At the EPO PATLIB 2024 seminar, I enjoyed Ángel Aledo López’s presentation, “From data to intelligence: making the most of tools”. As the CTO of the European Patent Office, Ángel discussed how AI-powered intelligence is transforming patent data into actionable insights. He showcased how the EPO is using AI to explore future data-driven intelligence tools, revealing how technology can push boundaries in patent analysis and innovation management.

Looking forward to applying these new perspectives in our work at IP CYPRUS and continuing to push innovation forward in the world of IP! 🌟
